How do you grow microgreens?

Microgreens can be sown throughout the year although they will take slightly longer in low light conditions.

Soak one of the growing mats with room temperature water, drain and place in the bottom of the tray.

Sprinkle one sachet of seeds over the mat. Pop the lid on and place on a well-lit windowsill. Ensure the mat stays damp without becoming saturated. A sunny south facing windowsill will be effective. Once the seeds have germinated, water your seedlings regularly to ensure that the mat does not dry out.

As they grow, remove the lid. In only 3-4 weeks your micro greens will be ready to harvest. Simply cut the shoots close to the growing mat and at them to your dishes. Microgreens may hold an intense flavour but they have a delicate structure and should be used as an addition at the end of the dish rather than being cooked over a long period of time.
