The Daphne mezereum Rubra is a cottage garden favourite which explodes into bloom in late winter, its bare branches becomming smothered in clusters of fragrant, pinkesh-purple flowers. Perfect for a shrub border or woodland garden, ideally in partial shade. A well drained soil that does not dry out is required. Apply a mulch in spring to retain moisture and keep the roots cool. No pruning is required other than removing crossing branches.
