The evergreen Azalea Encore plants require a well-drained, moisture retentive, acid soil and if grown in pots, use an Ericaceous Potting Compost. The plants will flower in spring, summer and again in autumn. The removal of dead flowers is not necessary.
Unlike many azaleas these varieties can be grown in sun or partial shade, in heavy shade poor flowering will result. A minimum of four to six hours direct sunlight will encourage good flower development. Keep the plants well watered in dry spells to promote growth and flowering. Feed the plants with an ericaceous liquid fertilizer when in growth until August.
Little pruning is required other than to maintain a good shape or control the size of the plant. Pruning is carried immediately after the plants have finished flowering in spring.
